Two-fer Tuesday

Here's a throw (waaaay) back! Lately, the Hallmark movie channel (channel 500 for Comcast customers) has been playing old Disney classics that my family and I used to watch when I was still in single digits. The best ones so far have been "That Darn Cat" and "Blackbeard's Ghost", both really funny and actually still enjoyable even now!

"That Darn Cat" is about a cat who gets caught up in a kidnapping scandal and becomes an informant for the FBI, whose agents have to follow him around at night to see if he leads them to the kidnappers. "Blackbeard's Ghost" is about an old pirate who haunts an old hotel, but only one person can see him, which leads to a lot of weird happenings that no one can explain.

Both are totally worth checking out and making you feel like a kid again. Did anyone else watch them when they were kids?

The Lion King

So I just returned from seeing "The Lion King" at the Paramount theater and it was INCREDIBLE!!! I had been waiting to see this musical since it was first introduced on Broadway and was so excited when it came here. I couldn't believe how amazing it was. The costumes and the sets were so awesome and the singers/actors were incredible as well, giving performances that bring tears (maybe...). It was amazing how close they stuck to the script and how they managed to find actors that sounded so close to the original voices of the film. (I have seen the film a few dozen times as it is my favorite of Disney.) My mom had heard that just the opening scene was worth the ticket price, and whoever said that was completely right. When that African chant starts, WOW! I could watch it over and over. Unfortunately tomorrow is the last day it's playing here in Seattle, but judging by the response it got, it will most likely come back soon. And I will be there again!

The Music Of Disney

So who doesn't love Disney music!? I think we all do. One of my favorite things to listen to over the years for some cheering up or just fun entertainment has been "The Music Of Disney: A Legacy In Song". It is a three disc compilation of Disney songs of the distant past up until Beauty and the Beast. We are talking old songs too, like "That Darn Cat" and "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf". (I'm currently listening to "Higitus Figitus" from The Sword in the Stone!) It is a great compilation that will take you back to the days of the old cartoons and movies that you watched when you were a kid. Other favorites include "The Spectrum Song" and "Duck Tales Theme". Check it out! It will have you nostalgic for hours.
