A Nice Treat

I got questioned in line at Safeway. The cashier asked me if I usually buy GQ magazine. While I do enjoy fashion magazines, no, I don't typically purchase an all men's fashion magazine. But I had to buy this issue. Isn't it obvious why? Ok, I know I run the risk of sounding like every 14 year old girl out there, but aside from the fact that Robert Pattinson is the sexiest new leading man, these photos are really amazing and very old-fashion, James Dean-esque. Love 'em!

The Lion King

So I just returned from seeing "The Lion King" at the Paramount theater and it was INCREDIBLE!!! I had been waiting to see this musical since it was first introduced on Broadway and was so excited when it came here. I couldn't believe how amazing it was. The costumes and the sets were so awesome and the singers/actors were incredible as well, giving performances that bring tears (maybe...). It was amazing how close they stuck to the script and how they managed to find actors that sounded so close to the original voices of the film. (I have seen the film a few dozen times as it is my favorite of Disney.) My mom had heard that just the opening scene was worth the ticket price, and whoever said that was completely right. When that African chant starts, WOW! I could watch it over and over. Unfortunately tomorrow is the last day it's playing here in Seattle, but judging by the response it got, it will most likely come back soon. And I will be there again!

Many Happy Hours

So last Friday, a friend and I decided to happy hour it right after work and we did it up real nice. Our first location was Owl & Thistle in Post Alley. We chose it for the $2 Bud Lights and it turned out to be a nice little joint. It's definitely pub-ish so if you want a fancy place, this one isn't quite right. They also had real good food deals, appetizers for $2.95, fish & chips for $3.95. We decided to go for the fries and spinach-artichoke dip. Both delicious, although my one complaint is that the dip did not come with enough pita bread. But it was for sure a place with good bargains and tasty food. Happy hour from 3-6.

We then decided to head up to Queen Anne and hit up Sully's (my new favorite bar). It's a small location so later in the evening it gets pretty crowded, but during happy hour it was very low key. We decided to keep our low budget evening going by ordering $2 PBR tall boys (classy!). They were listed on the happy hour menu, but the bartender/owner told us they're actually $2 all the time! Sweet deal. Although we didn't order any food that night, I have eaten there before and their specialty has got to be the sweet potato fries. But they also have other delicious things such as lamb sliders and salads. Mmm! Happy hour from 4-6.
