Brandon Roy's Jersey Retires
Last night was an amazing evening at Hec Ed Pavilion. Thanks to one of my regulars at the shop, I received two tickets to last night's UW men's basketball game vs. USC and was so grateful that I did because I got to see the retirement of Brandon Roy's jersey during the pre-game. I have double pride for Brandon Roy because not only does he represent my college, but also my high school! The ceremony was short, but very moving with a full stadium all on their feet and cheering. Roy was joined by many of his family members, including his two adorable kids and his fiance Tiana Bardwell, who was in my graduating class in high school and I was very happy to see they are still together. It was an exciting event and one that Roy totally deserves. And if that wasn't enough, we saw the current UW team stomp the Trojans in a 78-73 win! We're well on the way to leading the Pac-10 this year. GO HUSKIES!!

LOST
Tonight @ 8:00pm on ABC is one of the most anticipated season premieres of this year. Finally, after a long wait since May `08, us LOST fans finally get to see what happens next to the Oceanic 6 and the survivors still on the island. If you have never watched the show, don't start here tonight. Make sure you catch up with the first four seasons online @ abc.com. I highly recommend that you do as this is one of the most creative and dramatic series out there. (I was skeptical about the show at first too, but once I started I could not stop watching.) While there are only two short seasons left, I am kind of glad and looking forward to all the answers that have been left with giant question marks throughout the seasons. Basically I just can't wait for tonight!

Accessories Overload
According to Elle magazine, a new fashion trend starting this spring is big, bold accessories. And we're not talking one piece, we're talking many pieces at once. Finally my time has come. I have so much jewelry, I'm excited about the prospect of wearing a bunch of it at once! These necklaces designed by Marni are fabulous and paired with the bold patterns of the clothing, it makes me hopeful that this spring will be full of bright colors and BIG jewelry!

Twilight: The Movie
So I finally saw the infamous Twilight movie. After hearing many different viewpoints such as "If you read the book then see the movie, you wont like the movie" and "If you see the movie first then you'll love it, but wont like the book" etc., I wasn't expecting too much but felt the need to see it anyways. I read the book in anticipation of the film (I always like to read the book first) and it was entertaining but didn't quite convince me to continue the series. However, I really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was very simple and the art direction was great. I like how it definitely portrayed the weather and greyness that is Forks and western Washington and I do like the emotional story between the two leads. Robert Pattinson is great and impossible to take your eyes off of (if you're a girl I suppose) so I liked the experience. After seeing the movie, I kinda want to finish the series to know what happens next. If you want a movie for entertainment, emotion and good looks, go with this one.

2009 In Movies
I think 2009 is going to be a great year for movies. So I am bringing you my top 5 most anticipated films of the new year that I am most excited to see. If you want to learn more about these films, or any others for that matter, check out one of my favorite websites imdb.com!
5. Youth In Revolt (April)
Yes, I used to absolutely LOVE Michael Cera, so when I saw he was headlining this movie, I went out and bought the book and read it very quickly. Now, as long as Cera doesn't refuse to do the Arrested Development movie (there have been rumors he is holding out...) I will be very excited to see him in this role. People say he is a typecast actor, but I think this character will provide new challeges and let us see him in a new role.
4. Public Enemies (July)
Dude, Johnny Depp and Christian Bale as gangsters...enough said! It's been almost two years since we've seen Depp on the big screen. It's time to come back to us!
3. I Love You, Man (March)
I will stand in line for anything starring Paul Rudd OR Jason Segal. Here, I get both! Not to mention Jon Favreau, Andy Samberg and Rashida Jones. Stellar cast and guaranteed laughs on this one.
2. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (TBD)
I was excited to see this movie before the unfortunate passing of Heath Ledger. I spent a lot of days imdb-ing him because of The Dark Knight and it got me interested in this film. Now that he is gone, I think it will be an insane tribute to him and it will be great to see Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell add to his role. Judging by the stills from this movie, it will be out of control. In a really, really good way. You can bet I'll be there opening day.
1. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (July)
Seriously, this was supposed to come out in November of 2008 so already having to wait an extra 8 months is not cool. This is the place in the saga where things start to get really dark and twisted so I am excited to see that played out on screen. So far the 5th movie in the series has been my favorite, so I'm hoping the elements that I loved about that movie continue on into the 6th and 7th films. EEE! Midnight showing is where I'll be of course.
